Quantum Materials Nano-Optics

Our lab is interested in the exploration of physical phenomena and interactions at the nanoscale in quantum materials, using advanced nano-optical spectroscopy and imaging techniques across a wide spectral range from visible to terahertz frequencies, with diffraction-unlimited spatial resolution. We are broadly interested in non-equilibrium phenomena in physical systems and are particularly fascinated by how non-equilibrium or collective quantum effects at the atomic/molecular scale give rise to nanoscale emergent behavior.

"As we go down in size, there are a number of interesting problems that arise. All things do not simply scale down in proportion. There is the problem that materials stick together by the molecular (Van der Waals) attractions. It would be like this..."
